Great books! My son very enjoying writing in them! Just only down side it's not a lots of line and more colouring picture I wish it wouldn't be there.

I ordered these books for my daughters as my eldest has recently started school and is jolly phonic mad. I love the way the books tell the sounds in a story and then give them ample room to practice the letters/sounds they have learnt. A very good learning tool that works with the schools learning and as a multi-pack is extremely good value for money, my daughters have enjoyed doing them

Worth every pennyChildrens brains are like sponges, give them a head start in learning. Top tip, photocopy the pages and do them over and over again... also prolongs the life of the books for the next child

I bought these to give my son some extra help at home. He absolutely loves doing his 'homework'. Just wish that I had bought them a little earlier. Makes learning fun.

These books are fantastic for pre-school and Reception children to practise writing their letters. They are fun, and as well as practising letters they also contain exercises to assist with pen control and other letter learning activities. They have really assisted my son in writing neater (and smaller) and he actually enjoys them and asks to get them out. Would highly recommend.

I haven't tried this product myself as I bought it as a present for my nephew for his birthday, but I am told it's the type of books they use at nursery too.

The Jolly Phonics series is a great home tool for teaching little ones the alphabet inline with Primary School. This includes seven separate work books with worksheets to complete on each letter of the alphabet, which the pre-school and Primary 1 & 2 Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland follow. Each workbook teaches the alphabet in a fun way, with simple letter recognition, simple writing skills and an action and sound for each letter. Please note Jolly phonics does not teach the alphabet from A-Z, for example the first workbook focuses on the letters: S, A, T, I, P , as this is the best, tried and tested method focusing on the sound used. Ideal for Ages 4+.

Really good quality books, which are being used everyday to help my son. Would recommend to anyone wishing to help their child learn phonics

We have used these for our son, who has just turned 4, alongside the teachers handbook. These books allow him to practice writing the letters we have learnt. Most importantly he has a real motivation to do them and always wants to learn the next letter. Hopefully he will be a bit ahead when he starts school in September!

These books have helped my little boy who is 4 start to learn his letters by the different sounds the letters make. He loves it and loves to go through them. He has just learnt how to write is own name.

I loved letter land and so did my daughter and I taught her the letters using their reading cards and CD (both of which I highly recommend). However, now that my daughter has started Reception I was looking for something else to stimulate her writing as well as her reading, which is coming along very nicely. After reading such positive comments on this Jolly Phonics product, I bought it and it just so happens that it is the same method they are using at her school to teach them the letter. She loves it as she recognises it all. A good way to complement at home, what she's learning at school. Also, it's a great way to get her to practice her writing and do it in short periods of time, broken up by the colouring, which she also enjoys. I also love the way they aid you into what to teach your children when, to gradually build up their reading more and more. A great buy!

These really are excellent books to have for help with your toddlers education. They help so much with there speech and alphabet skills. I photo copy a few pages at a time then we sit and work our way through them while we are being creative. I would definitely recommend the 'Jolly phonics works books 1-7' along with the 'Jolly phonics word book'. They really do help when your not sure how to teach your child there numbers and letters, we're not all teachers. Our toddler is nearly four and we can't believe how much she already knows, they are great preparation for them going to there first School.

Susan(24/02/2013)

My son has just started primary school and the books not only help him, but also myself as I had no clue about jolly phonics and it has a lot of information and games that he enjoys

Susan(16/02/2013)

5/5

I'm using this with my grandchildren and find that it is as useful to teach them how to write as it is to teach them how to read. It is a workbook which tackles the essentials of both reading and writing and still manages to make it fun.

We are using these books to help with worksheets for our 8/9 year old children who are learning English as a 2nd or 3rd language. They are really helpful for both the children and the volunteers who are teaching the lessons.

Glenn(09/02/2013)

5/5

I got to know about these books 5 years ago when my older child was first being introduced to the letters of the alphabets and phonics and because they were so good, I got them again for my younger child who started school last September. These workbooks are brilliant and they teach phonics in the most practical ways. The illustrations in the book can be coloured in and are sure to keep the little learners busy!

My 5 year old daughter in Reception uses the Jolly Phonics scheme at her school. At the moment she does not receive any homework. I ordered these books and she is enjoying them right this minute. It compliments well with what she's learning at school, giving her confidence and developing her reading and writing skills. I recommend this book to anyone who has a child in Reception. It really is that good!

chris(28/01/2013)

5/5

Excellent work books for children going to Reception. English is not my first language and it was difficult to teach phonics to my child. My friend referred this to me ,it is really great. It is easy to use, organized and helps children to learn fast as well.

I AM GREATLY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT, THE BOOKS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION, AND MY GIRL, KARLA , LOVES TO LEARN FROM THEM AND PRACTICE A NEW SOUND EACH DAY....THE WOORK BOOKS ARE REALLY THE BEST METHOD TO COMPLETE THE LEARNIG PROCESS AND I COULD SAY THAT THEY ARE AN ESSENTIAL TOOL.SIMINA DRAGAN

It's ideal for learning phonics and sounds! Each page contains funny pictures, sign for letter and how it sounds. My son found it easy to remember. Also really good practice for writing ( small and capital), We have really fun time with these books! Really recommended!

LAURA(19/01/2013)

5/5

Got these books my son who is starting school in September and wanted to give him a taste of phonics (so to speak!) The pages all have little games which lets your child practice pen control and my son loves doing these. You can tackle the books in short stints and lots of games to keep them going. Would recommend!

Zoe(11/01/2013)

5/5

Fantastic set of books. Links to curriculum and used by our preschool and follows into reception class at school. Great

Stuart(26/12/2012)

5/5

Although I bought this with my four yeast old in mind, My almost three year old has enjoyed the work books just as much ,and thanks to her older sister is already pointing out letter sounds in her everyday activity's. This product, has I feel given my children a head start on the road to learning!

ANDREA(20/12/2012)

5/5

I learnt about jolly phonics through friends. After checking the review I bought the workbook for my 6years old son who is attending a bilingual French private school. I have noticed immense improvement in his English reading skills, and even after only three weeks now he has started to read by himself. I find the workbook activities engaging and he enjoy doing the activities. so much so, that sometimes he will himself get the books and ask me to help him. This is a great product, worthy of the money.

Heidi(12/12/2012)

5/5

since I bought this product jolly phonics workbook and really my problems with helping my children to speedup their reading and the way they read are completely enhanced. I recommend this product to a friend.

GREAT PRICE, GREAT PRODUCT AND PERFECTLY FITS IN WITH SCHOOL LEARNING. MY DAUGHTER CAN GO THROUGH THESE AND FILL IN WHAT SHE KNOWS FROM SCHOOL AND WE CAN HELP HER WITH OTHER BITS SHE DONT KNOW. PERFECT FOR EDUCATION AND MY DAUGHTER USES THESE JUST TO OCCUPY HERSELF ASWELL.

shazia(06/12/2012)

5/5

I used these for my first daughter & now am for my second before she starts school easy little book which have a rhyme for each letter to help them remember, I would also recommend the Jolly Phonics song book.

Sara(03/12/2012)

5/5

Really good way to get children interested in letters, words and writing. Highly recommended for all little ones learning to write or practicing their letters.

Paula(26/11/2012)

5/5

These books are brilliant, my daughter had no interest in learning until we bought these and she loves them, she is happy to sit down with me and use them, within a week she knew lots of her letters FANTASTIC!

Sarah(24/11/2012)

5/5

I bought these for my son to do as and when he wished. He struggles with his phonics and these have been a gem. He can pick them up and put them down when he feels yet he still knows where he was at and what he was doing, which is great. They are simple enough for them to do independently which give them a bigger sense of achievement.

clare(19/11/2012)

5/5

My child has just started learning the sounds of letters with the Jolly Phonics Method. My son last year was using a different method and still lacks some of the grasps the basics. It has taken my daughter less than 3 weeks to learn all the letter sounds, she knew the alphabet already so this really does seem the next logical step.

Udoka(03/11/2012)

5/5

I have used these books for 3 of my children. Schools work with the same principle so it's a great head start!!

louise(01/11/2012)

5/5

I bought these to occupy my granddaughter whilst waiting for her mother to return from work. Having missed the school intake by only eight days last September, she desperately wants to catch up with her older sisters. When she comes in she goes straight for 'her books and pencils'; any alternatives offered are pushed aside. Long may it last!

Naomi (01/11/2012)

5/5

These have helped a grand child who was struggling with her sounds and handwriting. She couldn't wait for the next book to complete.

K(01/11/2012)

5/5

Bought 2 sets of these books now, as my little girl liked them so much, that I bought some for her younger brother before he starts school in September. Very informative books, with great little tips to help you understand the 'rules' of the English language. There were some such rules that I hadn't ever realised (or if I had, I had certainly forgotten them), and I must admit, it has not only helped the kids, but it has helped me to explain to them how phonics works, after all, we were taught differently when I was at school! Great price too, would recommend these to anyone with pre-school children.

Karen(31/10/2012)

5/5

Really good value for money. Bought this for my 4 year old son who just started phonics at school. He loves practising with these workbooks as they cover the same material as in school but with different exercises.

sharon(10/09/2012)

5/5

Bought this for my Managers grandson as he is going to school this year. He is enjoying linking up the books while listening to the songs from the song book along with the finger puppets. Delivery was excellent didn't wait to long. Would definitely recommend this whether your child is going to school or not. Every parent should have it. I would have give this more stars

Margaret(02/09/2012)

5/5

Have used two of the books and works brilliantly with school curriculum. Really worth getting this version as there are lots of others out there that are not officially working with current national curriculum.

Claire(23/08/2012)

5/5

Great activities that are fun to do, your child doesn't realise they are practicing skills they will use the rest of their life. I had to prise these books out of my daughters hands so she would eat. Fully supports the teaching methods & delivery at school so reinforces learning in a fun way. I also bought the poster to go on her wall which is a big hit too. Highly recommended for pre-schoolers & reception class

Sarah(22/08/2012)

5/5

Really simple and no nonsense approach, if you like teaching 'back in the old days' way, this book is really good.

nasima(15/08/2012)

5/5

Along with the Jolly Phonics Word book, I would wholeheartedly advise any parents, carers or teachers to invest in this set of materials. At the regular retail price, they are still well worth it, so at the Amazon special value I believe this to be a sound and worthwhile investment.

nkechi(15/07/2012)

5/5

I bought these for my granddaughter who starts school in September she has already completed the first book. these look really good I'm very impressed with them and will be getting another set for my nephew who is the same age.

Claire(09/07/2012)

5/5

These books have been around since well before the Rose review but they still deliver really reliable activates that develop phonics for young learners, with the reward of some fine motor skills practise (colouring in, to me and you), when everyone can have some peace!

Ruth(07/07/2012)

5/5

When my daughter started in reception, I was quite apprehensive about her learning to read & spell. I needn't have bothered. This is an excellent teaching system. It is easy for the children to remember, with the 'phonic' actions being addictive. My son has started nursery and even he has managed to surprise his teachers with the ease in which he has picked up on the Jolly-Phonic alphabet. This is an absolute must for any parent whose child has just started (or even about to start) school. Since I bought these books my daughter is constantly pestering me to teach her the next sound/action, even the activates at the back of the book are fun to do!!Go on, give the teachers a helping hand and buy these for your little one!

Andrew(28/06/2012)

5/5

These are great books, excellent for teaching phonics and a very good price too. I'm teaching my 3year old with them and she is doing really well with these books

deb(24/06/2012)

5/5

I brought these books for my 3 1/2 year old daughter 2 days ago. We have been looking through the first two books together. I think they are brilliant. She has a fairly short attention span (what 3 year old doesn't), but these books managed to hold her attention. Within a couple of days she has managed to identify the letter sounds, and amazingly has just sounded out/blended the word cat. What a fantastic start to her education!!!

HELEN(20/06/2012)

5/5

I was concerned that my son aged 4.5 would not sit still long enough to do any of the jolly phonics books. I needn't have worried he loves them!.He loves going through the workbooks and he also likes the songbook...He starts reception in 7 weeks so this is going to be a great start for his reading and writing.

Karen(05/06/2012)

5/5

My son had just completed the first few weeks of primary one, I bought these book to help him with letter formation, he loves it, they follow the curriculum so helps his learning at school too. Ii would highly recommend this to anyone trying to teach a child. Easy to understand and follow.

maneer(05/06/2012)

Follows what my son is learning in school so is great for use at home

SHIREEN(28/05/2012)

I did a lot of my own research online, books, TV, parents and teachers and finally arrived with the knowledge that teaching phonics was the best way to keen to read and that Jolly Phonics was the best method available. I started off with the phonic songs cod and we both learnt all 42 songs for all the sounds. We also used the phonic poster to remind him about the sounds. Once he started school he started with the first letters from the phonic scheme and my son was happy with this even though he knew the letters already. The school used these work books for him to take home for the parents to complete a few pages on it each week. We did one letter a week and started blending words after they kerns the first 6 letters in the first work book. My son loved learning the songs, actions and writing the letters. The dings helped my son to learn the correct round dir the words and the action helped him to remember what the letter represented. My son learnt the letter sounds with the jolly cod at age three and then did these work books at school reception when he was four years old. The work books are fun and has plenty if word games like drawing a line to match the picture with the letter sound. Plenty of colouring to do also. It is well worth getting the full set if workbooks as you can teach you child from home with the confident you are following a fun structured effective reading and writing scheme. If you are home schooling or giving your child a good start before and during school then this is great. Look at the other products that Jolly phonics do as you can find the mix of products that best work with your child and your self. Once he started recap at 4 he learnt how to form words using the 42 sounds learnt and star

Ceri(27/05/2012)

5/5

I'm so happy I purchased this set! My daughter's hand writing has improved. Perfect for reception going children. The level becomes harder As the Book number increases. It's easy for 4 year olds and good revision of the concepts taught in school.

Dilip(04/05/2012)

5/5

I think this method of learning by association is great. It helps the child to remember letters when viewed alongside pictures (then they will eventually remember the letters in their own right without the pictures). Have gotten through book 1 so far. Since there are also activities in the books it helps to keep children engaged.

Jamal(03/05/2012)

5/5

The product came on time and was as described. The set covers the main phonic sounds and isn't over complicated for children, parents or teachers to use.

john(30/04/2012)

5/5

I ordered these for my 6 year old boy, who lives and attends school in the Netherlands, attended kindergarten in Germany and speaks English at home. I found this set of books a brilliant aid and found that it was set out in a very logical and fun way for children, its a lovely mix of integrative work, alone work and fun work. My 6 year old learnt to read English very fast with this system and I was so pleased. He always enjoyed out time working on them together and responded very well to the easy way that the pages were set out. Definitely a Good Buy .. Would recommend them to anyone.

Faheem(10/04/2012)

5/5

Does what it says on the tin. Ties in with the phonics teaching in my daughter's reception class. This multi-pack is value for money. Don't bother with the single books.

Abdul(18/03/2012)

5/5

Absolutely brilliant. Too many children cannot use sight words or sounds and therefore never learn to read and right properly. My daughter is a kindergarten teacher and she uses these for her classroom - they are that good. They are also great for pre scholars as well.

amanda(13/03/2012)

5/5

My daughter loves these books and they are exactly as used in her nursery. Great items as described despatched quickly - very happy

Silvana(13/03/2012)

5/5

These are great books for children learning to read and write. They mirror what my daughter is learning in school. There are also lots of good pictures to colour.

Russ(04/03/2012)

5/5

Great phonic books to support young children with their school work, my 4 year old uses them, although its a struggle to get her to use them as much as I would like!!

sivananthan(20/02/2012)

5/5

Bought these for my 3+ daughter & she just loves them. Very useful & gives her something different from her usual books that we get from the library. Sister in law is a teacher & said these will be good books for her to learn from. Will be looking into more books from the same series.

lucy(15/01/2012)

5/5

We bought these for our son (as he got introduced to jolly Phonics at Pre-School, with the Jolly Phonics songs)to take him to the next level, its great fun & is brilliant for learning & introducing your child to the wonderful world of reading/writing & spelling. We are all hooked & his face lights up as all the characters/tunes & rhythms are easy to learn. Well worth it to see your child develop with such ease. Can't recommend this enough

hiren(24/12/2011)

5/5

Bought 2 sets for my twins and they both love them very much and its proving very useful to help them get on with their learning. I would greatly recommend this to anyone.

Liam(18/12/2011)

5/5

My son isn't 4 yet and is already on book 4. He has started to read 3 letter words and loves learning with these books. It's good for me to refresh my own phonics! He loves it and loves doing the actions.

Joanne(02/12/2011)

5/5

These books are fib, perfect to work through, really chuffed with them and my son finds them quite fun which is a bonus!

Maggie(07/11/2011)

5/5

I am very impressed with the condition of the books as I ordered used, they are new. My daughter loves it and it is quite interesting. It take kids through different levels without making them bored. Excellent books.

Karen(21/10/2011)

5/5

These were bought for my nephew they arrived very quickly and are as expected he loves them and they great value for price would recommend

luiza(06/10/2011)

5/5

I purchased this for my Grand-daughter to help her along with both reading and writing. The workbooks were originally recommended by her school teacher, so Granddad set about following instructions from my daughter to get these and my Grand-daughter's reading and also he ability to also write the words are improving greatly.

Ian(02/10/2011)

5/5

These books are fantastic. They are great value for money. My son is aged four and just starting school. He has had no previous experience of letter sounds but with these books he can already recognise the sounds and makes an attempt at writing the letters. He is enthusiastic about looking at the books, he enjoys the actions which go to each sound and also the fact that each page can be coloured in. I would recommend these books to anyone who has young children.

Lorraine(29/09/2011)

5/5

My 4 year old loves this! At his nursery they use these Jolly Phonic books, so he loves repeating it, copying what he's learned at school! What I do is copy the pages, so the books stay empty and he can use them again and again!

jenny(18/09/2011)

5/5

I bought the Jolly Phonics series for my daughter when she was 3 1/2 years old and we started using them. By the time she was 4, she was reading so well and now at 5, she can read just about any book, of any level. Jolly Phonics is a really good tool for every child learning to read and I would highly recommend it.

Jill(19/08/2011)

5/5

Lovely books. a great to practise writing for reception children (even smaller, or bigger)with a lot of interactive picas and games. Recommended

Steve(17/08/2011)

5/5

Excellent set of workbooks. I really wish I had bought this earlier - I have tried and wasted money on many other 'phonic' and letter practice books, phone apps, free printable from the internet that purport to teach letter formation etc. I should have just seen the reviews and gone with this! My little one is almost 4, she has been taught all the phonic sounds at nursery, and she also knows how to write letters (to an extent) and blend sounds. I bought this set mainly for her to practise her letter writing skills and blending sounds. It certainly works. Each page has engaging pictures of objects that start with the letter being practised (my daughter loves to colour them in); and a worksheet - a few lines of lowercase letters and a few uppercase letters as well. At the end of each book are some puzzles/activities. Advantages over the Pride wipe clean worksheets:1. Reusable without erasing I've chosen to make a copy of each page on a copier and handing the copy to my little one to colour in/write (I plan to make more copies as required). This makes it reusable in a way that's better than a wipe-clean book - you get to retain their work.2. Size more natural The size of the letters in the 'worksheet' page is perfect - in Pride wipe clean books they are enormous (why??)3. Can use pencil Since we use copies on A4 printer paper, my child can use a pencil/pen/felt pen/crayon/whatever, unlike a wipe clean book.

Sarah(03/08/2011)

5/5

An excellent incite into what your child is leering at school. I leave the books around the playroom and my son of 4 years and in reception will pick them up, recognise the letters that he has learnt at school and attempt to colour, write and read the exercises.

Ian(27/07/2011)

5/5

brilliant for extra practice at home and for helping soothe the nursery school withdrawals over the holidays! enables parents to be involved in their children's learning.

Tracey(25/07/2011)

5/5

My youngest LOVES these workbooks. Keeps them on desk - and works through them almost by self! EXCELLENT product. Very clear steps - no 'sudden missing jumps' in the learning process. Highly recommend!

Elizabeth(27/06/2011)

5/5

Arrived in specified time, and good price. Really helpful for pre scholars who are in the right frame of mind to give it a go. Assists with pencil control and easy to follow.

Elizabeth(07/06/2013)

4/5

I bought these books for my son who is 4.5 and has learnt his letters and phonic sounds but not yet started school. The books are clear and precise and gives practical advice to parents. My criticism is that there is not much practice space with only 1 page for each letter.

Susan(21/05/2013)

4/5

my son was excited at first but then he lost it after a few days. But I can say they are good books, with nice drawings to colour, could keep your child busy for a while. For my son he likes spelling and reading more than writing.

Jade(13/05/2013)

4/5

We bought this for our four-year-old to help along with his writing and his reading. The books and easy for him to follow, not too much on the page to confuse him. The books also have good picture and letter recognition.

Simon(28/01/2013)

4/5

These books are great for introducing your child to learning letters and words, my daughter is 3 and a half and she is now perfect for learning.

Shaun(16/01/2013)

Good product, good price, came quickly, a bit too advance for my 3 yr old son but not by much, looking forward to using it very soon.

Lisa(23/12/2012)

4/5

my son is currently writing and colouring letter sounds using these workbooks. they are great. they have enhanced his handwriting skills. he enjoys the book.

Liam(13/12/2012)

4/5

It is a reasonably good set of phonics books. My daughter likes spending time doing the exercisers. It could have more interactive exercisers, so kids are more exited doing them.

Pradeep(06/11/2012)

4/5

Bought 2 sets of the 7 workbooks for my 2 boys - ages 3 and 4. Absolute success. Far better than any other workbook for pre-school kids in terms of the illustrations and lesson sequences. My boys are not the easiest to teach but they love working through these workbooks, visualising sounds, practising their handwriting and learning how to formulate letters. Jolly books are not actually used in their schools so quite new to us. As soon as I scanned the first few pages, I knew straightaway these were written by people who knew their stuff. We are on workbook 1 so many exciting pages ahead :). I wholeheartedly recommend these workbooks.

Colin(25/08/2012)

These books are very good although I think I will wait for my little girl to start school before starting these

Great activities to reinforce the phonics being taught in school. strongly recommend these to anyone who needs a little extra practice!

I bought the jolly phonics book for my 4 yr old girl to help her recognise letters and give her a head start on writing before going to school. After only using the books for a few weeks she can recognise what letter words start with or what letters are in particular words. With regular practice the books encourage the correct way to form letters and will really help when she starts school. I would highly recommend for pre-schoolers!

My daughters school uses the jolly phonics system to teach letters which is why I invested in these books. The books are lovely, each double page is dedicated to one letter and its sound and 6 sounds are covered in each book. Each page has a short sentence mainly using the pages sound and a big picture to colour in, the children can then write there letters on the opposite page initially going over the dotted lines and then there is space available for them to do it themselves. My only complaint about these books is that it would be better for the child to have slightly more space to practice writing the letters.

My 4 year old loved these books. She is learning her letters in school at the moment and gets handouts similar to the pages in these books. The only thing is that the books progress through the letters differently to way they are doing their letters in school, so I have to jump from book to book so as not to confuse her. Overall though, for the price I would definitely recommend them.

Learning using this system, and other phonics-based materials, was straight forward and created a very sound foundation for reading and writing. Using these sounds, you can then grow to reading by sounding out and spelling by sounding out.

I've recently bought these for my 3 year old son who is currently learning his phonics at kindergarten. The layout and pictures are an excellent way to teach kids, as my son is using the exact same pictures of the letter sounds at school, he finds it easy to relate to the book. I suppose if they were different pictures etc he probably would struggle. I have only got through book 1 at the moment therefore cannot comment yet on all the books. The books are easy and simple to use but could have had more content in them overall. They finish too quickly. Overall worth the purchase and at a decent price.

Nothing special compared to other phonic or pre-school books but my Alisha (age 3) loves the set so would definitely recommend!

It should reference that you need to get this with the home kit, as these are only the workbooks so not complete in themselves

My 2 and a half year old (who has an aptitude for reading) has started using these books. In themselves they are great for learning sounds and the actions and activities that come with the books help her to remember the sounds the letters make. Very useful system which is easy to learn but I have found that on their own, the books are not enough and am now looking for some other books to complement this learning series.

Good product for children going into reception as it backs up what the school are teaching them and helps them to understand letters

Purchased for my son, he enjoys tracing the letters and shapes, good that can also colour in. One of the books pages were in the wrong order and upside down other than that good educational books

My daughter is not showing much interest in them because they are all black and white and need to be coloured in. I think more colour on the pages to begin with would look more inviting.....

these are the first and so far the only books that my son has no interest in. He is learning to read quite well, but he hates these books, no matter how much I try to encourage him. They are cheaply produced and boring. Waste of money.
