During Year 3, children start to read a greater variety of texts including poetry and plays as well as fiction and non-fiction, sometimes aloud to the rest of their class. They also learn to use a greater variety of vocabulary and punctuation within their writing.
In maths, children develop their counting skills by learning to count in more complicated multiples (such as 3, 4, 6 and 8) and learn about place value in 3-digit numbers. They will also tackle arithmetic calculations involving 3-digit numbers, fractions and units of measurement such as weight, length and money. As well as this your child will learn to tell the time and deepen their understanding of geometry with 2D and 3D shapes.
