Sight Word Flashcards

Description

Sight Word Flashcards

Reading fluently can be very challenging at a young age. Thankfully, Flash Kids' Sight Word Flashcards offers a great introduction to a large number of common and difficult to sound out words.

The words which children most frequently encounter in their reading and which cannot be easily sounded out are called "sight words". Knowing these words "by sight" is critical to reading fluency. This pack introduces 150 sight words and includes ideas of fun and simple ways to use the cards with your child.

The pack includes 86 double sided, well made, durable, and colourful cards.

* Please note that this book (or pack of books) is fully updated to the new curriculum that began in 2014 (for Years 1-5 and 7-9) and 2015 for Year 6.

These cards are excellent if your are consistent. I bought these for my 3&1/2 year old. He is the youngest in his year at nursery so wanted to give him a head start. After a month of reading the coloured side with him, he can now read them without help. He shows me each card as he reads it everyday on the way to and from school. He read the cards to his nursery teacher who was very surprised at the words he could read such as 'come' 'use' 'old' Now that he has mastered the coloured side, we will do the white side. One side isn't any easier than the other, but all the words would be too much to learn at one time.

Good cards. Wished I had got for my son when he was a little younger and before he started with doing his phonics (he's obsessed with trying to apply phonics to everything - but he's getting the idea that more words don't follow phonics than to). Both good quality and size.

Kasie(18/08/2015)

enjoyed using these cards

Bought these for my 2 1/2 year old grandson and we are having real fun together learning new words. They are ideal in size and layout and the different colours help him to recognize words. He already knows 16 of the words and is very proud of himself, his favourite words are no, stop, go, up my and of course I.

Excellent learning tool, helps children to learn words by making it fun. The cards are colour coded and this helps you choose the easy words and then progress to the more complex words and spellings

Excellent cards really brought my daughter on ,her nursery teacher told Me about them highly recommended

Naida(30/07/2015)

5/5

These are great cards, we did also buy the kipper ones as well but they have soon become redundant as there is not many words in them, I split these up into groups of words and we have progressed with harder words as my little boy has become better at reading and understanding words.

Keith(29/07/2015)

5/5

These are fantastic as an aid for children. The children have to learn the actual word, rather than guessing from seeing a picture. I have already recommended these to the other mums I know.

Nathaniel(27/07/2015)

Hung(14/07/2015)

5/5

I use these sight words for a little girl who has Down syndrome as they learn to read whole words rather than breaking down each sound we use them as flash cards

Cristine(13/07/2015)

5/5

These sight words are very helpful. I stick one up every day and call it the word of the day and its helps tremendously with my 4 year old reading.. Very satisfied

Jacqualine(12/07/2015)

5/5

Excellent cards that you can use for children in early years up to year 2. These cards can be used in fun games that you can create or general use for getting them to read words out loud and spelling them out. They are very clear and colourful.

Wilton(10/07/2015)

I bought these for my newly four year old after she learnt the alphabet using flash cards. We add a new one each day and she is learning quickly. I was really worried about Her being behind the others at school in her learning, as she is the youngest in the reception year being an August baby, but with these and the alphabet flash cards she was one of the first to be given a reading book, and she is flying through them. Can't recommend them enough. Only thing I would say is there should be some guidance on which words to start with etc- I would have liked an order for the best way to learn them, instead I've had to do it myself and hope that ive done a good job!

Lorriane(02/07/2015)

5/5

These cards helped enormously with my daughter's fluency when reading. Contains a really useful collection of common words, many of which cannot be phonetically decoded & therefore need to be learnt. Good quality & value.

Kayla(02/07/2015)

5/5

I have been using this with my four year old who is due to start Reception in September and I must say this has helped a lot. Fun, brightly coloured and inexpensive - these cards are a great way to learn sight words.

Just as described

Dwayne(24/06/2015)

5/5

Worth every penny. Large flash cards and plenty of them with different levels and good ideas of how to best use them.

Lavona(22/06/2015)

5/5

Excellent buy contains reception and key stage one tricky words. The words are bright and colourful and my four year old likes them as they make learning words more enjoyable because they are bright and colourful. Would definitely recommend.

Mindy(20/06/2015)

5/5

These have been useful for my daughter who speaks English as a second language.

Terry(20/06/2015)

5/5

Great for my son

Temple(19/06/2015)

5/5

I bought these to help my son with his sight words, which is exactly what they've done! There are easier words on one side, and more challenging words on the other, so they should continue to help him for a little while yet. He enjoys going through a few every evening, and it makes a big difference to his reading skills!

Chante(18/06/2015)

Suzie(17/06/2015)

Gracie(17/06/2015)

Rosemarie(16/06/2015)

5/5

great very had to find and this was good quality and value for money would recommend this, good if in more than one colour

Aretha(14/06/2015)

5/5

I brought these as my little girl is a bit behind in reception year at school and she get something similar from school called worm words so thought these would help and they seem to be. Helping with her blending for letters to make words so fab for reading. Best part is she loves them. No sorry we love them!!

Lauretta(13/06/2015)

5/5

Excellent way for your child to learn new words... All major level 1-2-3 words in this pack and its good that a child can learn at home as well as in school my son is the top of his reception lass when it comes to reading books thanks to these.

Etha(11/06/2015)

5/5

excellent resource for teachers

Nichelle(06/06/2015)

5/5

Very happy Super quick delivery, good quality

Lon(05/06/2015)

5/5

I bought these for my granddaughter for her birthday and some for Christmas. Overall very pleased with them and would recommend for any child from 1year onwards.

Colin(03/06/2015)

5/5

These cards are a must for helping your little one to read. The box is great and sturdy, the cards are different colours which I think is a good idea and there is a whole variety of words. Fingers crossed it does the trick!!

Mariette(31/05/2015)

5/5

Ideal to help the little ones along

Shaina(29/05/2015)

5/5

These flashcards are brilliant. Big and bold. Have been using these with my daughter. As they're big, my daughter can be a distance away playing with her toys, turn to read the card, and then resume playing. We do sit together too of course, but I can get in a little bit of ad-hoc practice this way too. The only downside is a small fraction of the cards are white writing on yellow background giving poor contrast, but I'm still giving 5 stars.

Lamont(27/05/2015)

5/5

Bright, fun cards, do the job for a good price. Good selection of words, colours make them slightly more interesting!

Noreen(24/05/2015)

5/5

My little girl has problems with reading and writing but after 3 weeks she has learnt over half the words will be getting more flash cards for her because they work.

Rudolf(03/09/2015)

4/5

The cards are bright and colourful with clear, easy on the eye lettering printed on both sides - and plenty of them! My three-year old grandson likes repeating the words and is able to point out certain words, although they do "crumple" when his one-year old brother tries to pick them up - which is an entertaining factor all by itself! On the whole they are lovely and do help (babies and) toddlers with word recognition, while having fun at the same time.

Jody(30/08/2015)

4/5

These are extremely good quality as they are still going strong after having had both my 5 and 2 year old play/fight over them for ages.

Gilma(28/08/2015)

4/5

These are good value for money, I brought them for my daughter and have them stuck up in the kitchen, I swap them around every week, she really likes them, I team it up with choosing new works that sure in her bedtime stories and when she learns the new word she gets a sticker on her reward chart.

Dayna(28/08/2015)

4/5

I bought this for my grandchildren, age 4 & 2. My daughter puts cards around the room and the children recognize the words and when she says the word they run to the card. She does not put the cards in the same place so believe they do 'read' the cards. They have fun finding the word and am amazed the 2 year old can 'read' even when his brother is at pre school. Also they pick out words when I am reading with them.

Yahaira(28/08/2015)

4/5

as expected

Merry(23/08/2015)

4/5

To be honest I haven't used the cards yet but I have a few ideas in mind. I think I might separate the words into categories and use them while learning building up sentences ( as in connectives, definite article for example)

Hyun(17/08/2015)

4/5

My 5 year old is using the read write inc! phonics system at school so we bought the sound cards which are good. However we noticed he was getting a little behind and realised he was getting stuck with words where sounding out phonetically doesn't work. His teacher is very anti 'learning words from memory' however there are some words that children have to learn from memory such as 'was' pronounced 'was' but phonetically reads 'w-a-s'. so what we do alongside the phonics system is use these to teach him the 'silly words' that don't conform to that system. so far he is making some progress with them.

Meredith(30/07/2015)

4/5

Good.

Aura(28/07/2015)

4/5

easy and fun to use.

Darrick(27/07/2015)

4/5

Good quality flash cards, with tonnes of cards in the box!

Cori(21/07/2015)

4/5

Love 'em

Roni(14/07/2015)

4/5

a little flimsy but my 3 year old craves learning new words and loves these cards. she can read about 25 words thanks to these cards and we love them

Jae(12/07/2015)

4/5

great for kids as now parents and grandparents are expected to teach the kids at home from four years old

Rebecca(12/07/2015)

4/5

To be honest there just flash cards nothing special if I had the time could of just made them myself

Kendal(05/07/2015)

4/5

Very good, helped my kids practice reading and expand their vocabulary.

Teodora(14/06/2015)

4/5

Grandson enjoys playing with these. Have helped his word recognition through play. Good quality, arrived quickly.

Adell(01/06/2015)

4/5

Great really pleased great ideas for games to play with the cards too my daughter loved it she was getting bored of same reading books great as change some words seem really hard but took them all out to start with picked few at a time

Lucina(29/05/2015)

4/5

perfect for little learners

Leslee(01/09/2015)

3/5

These flash cards are ok, but the only thing wrong that I found is that different words are printed on both sides of the cards some are easy words and some are harder words, they seem to be at random no logic to them? I would say they are more for 5 year olds.

Davis(19/08/2015)

3/5

this set is good for 'hot housing' your kids, there are no games that come with it like the biff chip and kipper sets and it is very much a show and repeat method, we are not a fan and haven't used them yet (maybe its cause we prefer phonics and with sight words this method doesn't work who know?) buy them anyway they are cheap enough...

Kristyn(19/06/2015)

3/5

I bought these cards to teach the younger children in my group the colours. they have mastered that through this aid.. next step shapes..

Nevada(10/06/2015)

3/5

Double sided so can get complicated when trying to use the cards. Also no list of words so you are searching blind.

Laticia(06/06/2015)

3/5

These arrived quickly and well packaged. I liked the fact they are coloured so my son was more drawn to them than the plain ones. The words are a good selection too.

Karrie(01/06/2015)

3/5

Not bad, I don't understand the colour coding, I expected it would be colour coded according to number of letters/difficulty level, but its not.
