Handwriting Workbook (Ages 4-7)
Handwriting matters. It's not easy to start and it's definitely not easy to master. Put simply, handwriting is hard work. Clear, easy to read handwriting makes life easy for teachers and exam markers. Indeed, if children leave primary school with good handwriting, it can last a lifetime. This fantastic workbook by Scholastic will help your child master handwriting in a fuss-free way. Children start by working through patterns and learning how to correctly form every letter. The book then moves on to fun activities that match the national curriculum. Often they will be asked to copy a word and match it to a related image, fill in the blanks or complete the pattern. The book also covers capital letters, numbers and introduces joining letters. This Handwriting Workbook is ideal for children aged between 4 and 7. The fun activities will help your child quickly build dexterity, speed and confidence in their handwriting.
Year 1 Science Workout Pack (Ages 5-6)
“How can birds fly?” and “Why do plants have leaves” are common questions in a Year 1 classroom! The wonderful thing about Science is that it rarely needs a hard-sell or a bribe, it’s genuinely engaging! In Year 1, your child will learn about the seasons, plants, trees, animals (including fish, birds and land bases animals), the human body and everyday materials (e.g. hard or soft, stretchy or bendy etc). The three workbooks in this Year 1 Science Workout Pack follow what they will learn throughout Year 1 and provide your child with an opportunity to carefully consider what they have learned in the classroom. They’re essentially a slightly more formal children’s activity book that’s all about Science. The basic formula of the books is to remind your child about a scientific fact in easy to understand language. For example, one fact could be... “Even if animals look very different there can still be things about them that are the same.” The book would then ask them to demonstrate their understanding by labelling or circling pictures, counting the number of differences or a number of other, similar activities. It’s the way that these books keep relevant to your child’s own experiences (as well as their learning) that keeps them engaging and fun to use! If your child has an interest in Science and likes to ask questions about the world around them, we would highly recommend Year 1 Science Workout Pack. They’re especially fun and rewarding for parents to complete when with their child.

10 Minutes A Day Maths (Ages 5-7)
At Exam Ninja, we’re as suspicious about celebrity endorsed products as anyone else but you know what? Our cynicism was disappointed because these 10 Minute Maths books authored by Carol Vorderman are really very good! First of all, they include an electronic timer, which is unexpected and really pretty neat! The books are written around the concept of intense, 10 minute learning bursts. By only spending a short amount of time on the games and tests, children maintain a stronger, more productive level of concentration. The 10 minute exercises include tests and games on numbers, patterns, measures, data and shapes and clearly aim to build children’s mathematical confidence, something many other books lack.
