In Key Stage 2 your child's learning will become more detailed and independent. However, there are still plenty of ways to help support their learning at home.

Normalising reading in family life is a great way to encourage a personal interest in books. They don't have to be restricted to "young fiction" or even "age-appropriate" books. Try biographies, books about space, animals or any other theme your child finds fascinating.

Spelling tests are a favourite in Key Stage 2 classes and it's good to help them learn these at home. Don't leave these until the last minute every week, instead try to look at them a little more often!

With Maths, try linking their interests with their Maths skills. For example - how much faster will that F1 driver need to be to get pole position? How many more goals with the opposition need to draw level on aggrogated? How many points will your team need to move to the top of the league?

It goes without saying that balance is key so avoid bombarding your child with questions!

Most important of all in Key Stage 2 is to keep your child motivated to learn and achieve.
