Problem solving is where your child has to choose the maths, not just do it. This pack keeps to the National Curriculum for Years 5 and 6, so the fractions, decimals, ratio and geometry are the ones taught in class. It is also the maths the KS2 tests draw on. A confident Year 4 child can start on the easier book.
Each of the three printed workbooks sets maths inside a real situation. The Carol Vorderman book runs in ten-minute bursts, with games, tests and notes for you on common mistakes. One page gives eight word problems on fractions, decimals and percentages, with boxes for the answers. All three books include full answers.
Workbook 3 sends your child shopping at a computer fair, working out sale prices and comparing bills. Workbook 4 goes further, with points plotted on grids, plus reflections and rotations. It suits a Year 7 child as well. Together the three books carry your child from short daily practice to longer reasoning questions.
