The KS2 SATs are sat in May, and these are the practice papers a Year 5 child works through to get ready for them.
The questions follow the National Curriculum for Year 5, so your child practises what school has already covered. Each paper has a similar look to the real test, which takes some of the surprise out of the day. Mental arithmetic, problem solving, reading comprehension, spelling and grammar all get their turn.
The maths book holds two complete tests, and reading and SPaG have three each. One maths page asks your child to subtract 240ml from 1 litre and show the method in the grid. The spelling tests come as 3 audio files you download from Exam Ninja, so you can read them out at the right pace.
Every book has its own guidance and mark scheme, and you can see how that works before you buy. The reading mark scheme for Test A sets out the correct answers with the marking criteria for each question. The SPaG one does the same for Test A, Paper 1, and adds a diagram for sentence types. Three complete sets with marking criteria like that tell you more than a paper here and a paper there.
