This KS1 comprehension pack takes your child through that step in the order their class works in, following the National Curriculum for English at Key Stage 1. A Year 3 child who still guesses at questions can go back to the first book and rebuild from there. A confident child in Reception who is already reading well will find plenty here to push on with.
Each of the two workbooks holds 18 passages, with fiction and non-fiction side by side. Your child reads a text, then answers nine questions on it, as the sample pages show. Some are multiple choice, some need a short written answer on the lines given.
The printed pack pairs the two workbooks with the teacher's guide, which gives you sample answers, follow-up activities and record sheets. Workbook 1 starts written comprehension gently. Workbook 2 uses longer, harder extracts. The guide sits beside you while your child works, so you always know what a good answer looks like.
